I spent 6 hours today doing meticulous two-bucket washes, clay bar (actually prep mitt) and Meguire's mirror glaze on both cars. That 6 hours didn't give me time to get to the inside of either car, nor did I get to do a "full" wheel cleaning. However, it was enough to get an inch-by-inch look at the X panel and seal issues.

I have peeling paint under the side-view mirror on the driver's side. It appears it was mounted too tight to the door panel and has scratched it. I've added that to my service center list. There are paint drips on the edges of some panels, and they're noticeable specifically where they meet the painted plastic panels with tight tolerances. Those are reasonable enough that I won't bring them up. Some of my seals have been on order at my Service Center and I plan to call them first thing tomorrow to follow up. Because I live on a gravel road, I get a lot of dust and it shows where the seals aren't, well, sealing. One area that's especially bad, and that I haven't noticed before, is the black liner inside the liftgate water channel. It is made of multiple pieces, and where they meet at the top corners there are huge gaps. No chance of those keeping water from getting under the seals. Again, on the list.

Because I didn't get the wheels, and because I was exhausted, I didn't get a decent photo of the clean cars. Here's one of the X backed into the garage right after I finished the mirror glaze. Vignetted to obscure the garbage around it in the garage. (Just a note for sticklers like @ssq) ;)

What a beauty of a car!! Thanks for the details and NO-thanks for raising my anxiety levels about all the things I will be looking for with a magnifying glass when my turn comes. Tesla really really REALLY needs to get their act right on QC before very loyal and supportive customers like us start losing their patience. I am hopeful they are trying their best and thankful that I did not reserve as early as you guys ;)
As for detailing, I doubt I will have the courage to lay my hands down and try to clean the car, its 100k too expensive for me to try my n00b detailing skills.
hey, good job with the vignetting!! :p:D
BUT wait its making me anxious because I cannot get a good look at the other beauty on the left. You love white cars don't you!!

Edit: this alignment is bothering me...I cannot unsee it.. :(

Heh. On my road, it's either white or silver or you're cleaning daily. I've had plenty of silver, so we're on a white kick. Plus, having two white Teslas is not a terrible look for us.

Here's the even-less-glamorous look at both cars in the garage. Mess unobscured.

Beautiful stable! I have had black-on-black combos all these years and got my first white car llast year (BMW 5er you may have seen in the garage posts, tan interiors). I now realize how classy white cars look, and actually it doesn't even compare to how dirty and messy the black cars get. I have not washed my Bimmer in 6 months, and the only part thats dirty is beside the wheel well. I have a new found love for white cars... but the X will be Midnight Silver with dark Onyx shoes! ;)
And hey..don't you worry about garage pics, mine is messy as well but nobody gets to see it, all the mess is tucked away and hidden :D
I do get a lot of ideas of garage organization, shelving, ladders, tool etc etc from the pics you all share. kind of like garagePorn ?!

We too have had black on black for more than a decade. We were seriously considering white this time with X but we couldn't just give up the black. And the white seats really stand out in black.
After seeing as delivered pics posted by @ohmman i feel very lucky. I think our cars must have rolled off the factory pretty close as I took delivery 3/31 and he did in the week after.

@ohmman - great job on the cars today. They look awesome!

Hey @ohmman is it worth dealing with Tesla about alignment issues? I know you got the best SC in the state but mine does not seem to have any body shop appointments available for a few months. I only got one alignment issue at the passenger FWD, everything else is fine.

I have another appointment scheduled for next week cause I got missing screws on the rear under-shield of my car (how did Elon allow that to pass inspection!) and that rattle from the trunk is very annoying, which was not fixed at the last SC appointment.

If the alignment issue really bugs you AND if the body shop is well regarded AND if Tesla is willing to schedule it, you can go ahead and do it. It's possible aligning that panel will put something else, like the other side, out of alignment. My car still isn't perfect, as @ssq noted. But it's pretty close to the standard of my Model S, and that car has made me smile for the last two years.

I don't really care, I have bigger issues to worry about after the vandalism. Just concerned that the panel misalignment will lead to a lower resell value.
So far I haven't had an issue with the FWD either, I am also worried that having the body shop attempt to fix it will lead to a malfunction of the FWD

Yeah, someone (I assume kids) threw some dirt on the hood and wrote all these messages and it seems that one of them must have jumped onto the hood and scratched the paint with jeans/jacket. The detailer got rid of the writing but will have to buff-out the scratches, I will just wait until the car gets more filthier before I do that.

My dashcam will ship out tomorrow and I will have it installed later this week

Tesla offered to detail the car, not sure if they will do it for free or charge

I'd leave the door alone, personally. And really, really sorry to hear about the vandalism. That dashcam can't get installed soon enough.

At this moment, I am looking at the pic, cringing and checking if my front teeth and canines have a gap, and cringing some more. I have OCD... its going to reduce my life span.
@ssq , I took delivery of vin 6110 on Saturday, none of my panels were out of alignment, only one trim piece was slightly off, but I am being picky. I'm getting rims put on today, will have pics soon.

Maybe I should send you lots of pictures of my house and garage after the move.:D

Terrible and utterly unspeakable acts by someone... Its not like the vehicle is a bright green lamborghini that would attract attention and incite extreme jealousy. Very sorry to hear @K-MTG. I guess I have to reconsider getting a dashcam.

@K-MTG - very sorry to hear about your incidence. I can't understand why some idiots think it is fun to spoil someone's property.
Hope your detailer will be able to bring it back to original finish. And yeah seems like dashcam is becoming a necessity.

I was at the service center a few days ago and decided to peek at the X's and look at the finish. They look good and I didn't see anything out of spec. The people there told me they are seeing less and less issues and they are not as busy as they were awhile back.

My DS also told me they are ahead of schedule and expect my X mid to late July (I am a July delivery), maybe even sooner.

most my vehiclrs are black. I have to stick to it. Though for some reason I'm partial to black with non black shoes such as this...

Agreed. So the "shoes" got to be contrasting and complementing the "suit". I see that the non black colors look better with black rims and the black cars look better with darker non-black rims.
