Question for California owners: license plates

Got my license plates in just under a month from delivery.

Its been a month and I haven't received my plate.

I did have to drop my MY off at the service center for delivery issues. Tesla e-mailed me an invoice of repairs after I picked up my car and it had my license plate number on the invoice. How does Tesla know the license plate before I received my plates/paperwork from the DMV?

Because they use a third party service as go-between DMV and Tesla. You should get your plates within six weeks or so.

I got my official plates after about 4.5 weeks. Ordered the custom plates right away so we will see how long those take.

You may have the temp license # on the invoice.

I had the real 'permanent' number on the invoice, even though I had changed the plates immediately after receiving them. Tesla doesn't seem to update their own records anymore once they have the plate # as it was still showing the same 8 months after changing it.

Nope. I just got my plates today, and it was the exact same plate number listed on my invoice 10 days ago.
