I don't have a problem with backing in (though it is not my preferred way to park in my garage), but my issue is that the wife's care gets the left side of the garage so she can park away from the wall a little so the kids can get in and out. That leaves me with the right side of the garage close to the wall (since I rarely have anyone getting in or out of the passenger door in the garage). If I were to back in to this spot I'd be banging my driver door on the garage wall.
So I'm stuck pulling in straight on the right side of the garage where the charging port is right in the middle of the garage. I'm going to look at running 240V to the ceiling and mounting the UMC there (as others have said above). I also like the retracto so maybe I will use that too. Will have to wait and see.
