radar detector installed in their model s?

I would love to know if anyone has had a radar detector installed and if they have was it mounted behind the nose cone?

The 9500ci is installable behind the nose cone. There are a number of threads describing the installation with photos. Search advanced 'Escort' and there are 6 threads to read.

I installed the 9500 ci behind the nosecone about 10 months ago and have be totally happy with the results. Passengers in my S have been duly impressed with the install and lack of false negatives.

Beltronics STi-R mounted in the upper grille, along with laser shifters. I don't trust putting it behind the nosecone has the same sensitivity as out in the open. Nor do I have any idea how laser would make it through the nosecone.

Totally agree...no way you could mount the laser receiver/shifters behind the opaque plastic nose cone. My shifters are set into the grill with a clear and level view of the road ahead.
