You ask for help and then make a clueless comment like that !! You're welcome. That's an older model x, looking for newer one. Not sure if they are the same but likely not I would suspect
Same question for new model s not sure if anyone has tapped it using the mirror
So you are asking the public for details on the wiring on a Vehicle that doesn't exist yet? Ahh, got it.Don't get offended chief, I asked as the title states for info on 2021/2022.
If the mirror on the older and newer x is the same that's all you have to say. As I stated I don't know if they are the same or not. Since you are saying it is the same than thanks for the link
The S is different than previous model.
Do you have pictures you can share and maybe a link to the taps?Successful install:
I followed another posters advice here and tapped into the rear view mirror assembly. Remove the camera housing, towards the drivers side lightly mounted to the removed housing, there will be a 2 wire harness with blue and black wires. Use a radar detector wire tap (Amazon) to push pins into the back of one of the ends. Be careful not to cause a short but if you do don't worry the X now uses digital relays (efuses) and in an hour or so they will reset themselves. I turned off sentry mdoe and powered off the car and left it for over an hour and the efuse reset itself.
This isn't switched power but it's a very elegant solution for mounting a radar detector near the rear view mirror and out of the way. I did this for an escort redline 360c and it works well. The device turns itself off after 1 hour of no motion (GPS built in) and I just press power when I get in the car before a drive.
It would be but also a less elegant/clean look.Wouldn't plugging in to USB be a whole lot easier than crawling around and cutting wires?
Rocky Mountain Radar makes USB to 12V adapters:

No. It’s heck of lot easier tapping into the mirror (no cutting needed) than running wires through that channel, down the pillar under the dash into the console to tap the USB (which is 5V not 12-15V). But there is a 12V socket in the console too. Also when you run wires that long you need to factor in voltage drop and what gauge you need.Wouldn't plugging in to USB be a whole lot easier than crawling around and cutting wires?

I'd be more worried about the voltage being too high. New Teslas now run at 15.5V, not 13.6.You don't really need to worry about voltage drop for dinky accessories like this. Most of the provided hardwire kits are appropriately sized.

I assume you already downloaded an “Escort” app on your phone. So, you just need to open the escort app and press the left top “3 stripes” button to go to “Settings” and choose “Radar Settings” under “Device Settings” then go to “Auto Power” under “General settings” and choose “Off” instead off “1/2/4/8 Hours” and voila. So the radar will automatically turn on whenever you start to drive.Successful install:

Do you have a photo post install? Curious what it looks likeYou cannot tap the mirror's power in 2021/2022 X. But there is another spot in the mirror housing. Remove the mirror with a counterclockwise turn then sit in the front passenger seat and look into the mirror housing. Use a pry tool to slide this connector towards the rear of the vehicle. Once the connector is free pull it out a bit to tap it. Green=Positive and Black=ground View attachment 855172View attachment 855170
