Electric car to whizz around M25, twice, on a single charge Driving the Pan-American Highway — in an EV The New Racing Green
These guys are going to do London to Paris on one charge, leaving this Saturday from the London Eye at 10am. If I wasn't already in France, I'd go along to wish them luck.
The lads seem to be able to get pretty close to 300 miles on a charge. The motors, I read somewhere, have been "down wound" (or something) and are most efficient around 55 - 60 mph. I thnk to do the type of distance driving they would have been much farther ahead to use more energy dense batteries than Thunder Sky but I guess it's hard to beat free.
Getting there was a great achievement - pity they didn't get organised with the recharging in Paris though. The site of the car making its way home under its own steam, mixing it with the post race Le Mans traffic would have been far better than having it on a tow rope. I'm sure there are a lot of Petrolheads saying "told you so" now.
I believe that Dave is referring to their next blog post: http://www.racinggreenendurance.com/blog/?p=408
Many thanks. I have now been enjoying their blog and YouTube videos. This is a very inspiring effort and team.
Looks like the car just passed through CA. Did anyone meet up with them? Rather annoying as I was going to pre-warn TMC - but as you may have noticed, I've been a bit low key here recently.
TEG, the graphic shows 0-60 in 7 seconds...how is this the fastest electric car with a mediocre result like that?...am I missing something? (Side note...I wonder how difficult it is picking the bugs out of your teeth at 0-60 in 7 seconds?:wink: )
Yeah, doesn't seem like anyone should be calling it "world's fastest"... http://www.greenmuze.com/climate/cars/3269-imperial-college-srzero.html
...Although... It seems they intended it to be quicker... http://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-news/radical-srzeroelectric-sports-prototype-with-a-mission-ar83799.html
...I'd imagine a large bug in the face (at 0-60 in 1.8 seconds) would be like a crisp punch in the beezer! ...good thing the Zombie has a windshield!
