I'm just trying to understand how the Karma and Model S acceleration could feel the same. A female butt dyno would not make that mistake EVER and therefore is useless in this discussion.

It's an essential measurement tool for all shadetree mechanics. It's how you test your performance mods, like the Vornado or that cheap turbo kit.

People who were buying Motorolla, samsung, nokia & others did it not because they didn't want an iPhone, they bought it because they could not afford the real thing. Same thing will happen to the electric car industry.

I have purchased two HTC, and one Nokia smartphones after the first iPhone. Price had nothing to do with my purchases.

I bought the very first Android phone HTC Dream (T-Mobile G1 in the USA). (Cost me ~$400 I think, I didn't have a contract)
I bought the HTC HD2. Perhaps the most versitle/capeable phone ever made. My personal phone has run Win 6.5, 2-3 Versions of Android, WinPhone 7 and 7.5. ($550 cash, again no contract) I still use it as a mini-tablet.
I now have a Nokia N8. A true point and shoot camera with a cell phone attached. And the best antenna I have ever seen. (Cost right now is $300 for, a 2 year old, new phone that runs a 'minor' OS)

I have never wanted an iPhone. And I am willing to spend on a phone. Right now I am holding out for a Nokia WinPhone8.
