I've been on quite a few long trips where I've tried range mode on or off and haven't noticed a difference in A/C or range.

Noticed on a multi leg trip now that turning Range Mode on after Supercharging changed the prediction to the next Supercharger slightly and for the better.

I always keep off. I got a weird thing where it annoys me if the DRL are off. I still think its stupid to tie DRL to range mode to begin with. Its a safety feature.

The biggest point of range mode to me so far is that if you have it turned on, it won't attempt to heat the battery pack except with waste heat (so won't turn on the battery pack heaters). In middle of winter when you have the car cold soaked all night and not plugged in, that is a significant amount of energy saved in the morning, especially if you are not driving to a charging station as your first stop.

Range mode allows me to tell the car in cold conditions that no, it shouldn't waste energy heating up the battery when I'm just doing a quick 20 minute drive.

It also raises the target cooling of the battery to squeeze a few more electrons out of the battery. On a trip, I always turn it off a little before I arrive at my next charging stop to bring the battery temp down a little.

2017 MS 75d. Per the tesla manual, range mode does the following when on:
1. Turn off day time running lights
2. Limit the amount of power the cabin temp heating/cooling can use
3. Limit the amount of power the battery heating and cooling system can use.
4. For dual motor cars “optimized tourqe distribution for maximum range”.

I’ve been running with range mode on since I got the car and the Wh/mile seems pretty good. Going to turn it off for a bit (as I like the daytime lights too) and see if I notice any difference. Note I live in Austin with pretty mild weather in the winter.
