Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC) EV Pilot Program in Virginia

There is a new EV Pilot program from Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC) which services parts of Virginia. It is a simple time of use benefit with a $7 per month credit applied if you agree to charge your EV off peak which they define as 9pm-5am and 10am to 2pm year round. This is limited to just 200 customers.

I was part of Dominion Virginia Power's EV Pricing Plan, and it was a bargain, for sure. R.E.C. is my current electric provider so I signed up. I am already on a time-of-use plan which saves a ton of money when charging or using high energy usage system like a dryer or heating (via heat pump).

I received communication from R.E.C. stating that if you are on their Time of Use plan you cannot be part of this EV Pilot Program. If you are a R.E.C. customer I suggest you look into the TOU plan, especially if you are driving signifcant amounts each day or have more than one EV.
