?

Should you be able to rate posts from members you ignore?

  1. Yes, when you chose to ignore someone you should lose the privledge of rating their posts.

This is sparked from the conversation ongoing in this thread: Remove the 'Dislike' Button?

I think that if you choose to ignore a members posts that you should lose the privilege of rating their posts. And to prevent "gaming" of the system, un-ignore/rate/re-ignore, I think that anytime you ignore a member all of your prior ratings, of their posts, should be cleared.

Some people seem to care a lot. Which is why they try to blackmail others into removing ratings. (By retaliation voting and putting you on their ignore list. Which obviously once they have ignored you they have to make an effort to find your posts to rate them.)

Life's too short to bother with Disagree-ing or caring about others who Disagree with your post. Although the ratio seems to be asymptotically approaching 0, there is still some good content here. Better to spend our time focusing on that.

Even better: people who ignore, should become globally ignored themselves ;)

I disagree, but I will not rate it Disagree just in case it is important to you.;)

There are just some people who are purposefully wrong and antagonistic about it. I enjoy other opinions, and getting a "Disagree" on my posts every now and then lets me know I have an opinion of my own, not just going along with the crowd. But some people just take the fun out of it. I have been known to ignore a few.

If you have a problem with someone maliciously mass-disagreeing you should report them.

But otherwise it doesn't make sense because you can reveal posts, and one of the main reasons for ignoring people is vehement disagreement with posts.

I just looked at my personal page. I have handed out a whopping 39 ratings over the years. Not one was a disagree. This is the only forum where I have any sort of presence, and ratings are not very important to me to give or receive. Apologies to everyone if I should be more proactive and clicking on posts that have value to me.

In addition, I have received over 900 ratings of which 12 or so were disagrees. Oh well, can't win 'em all.

I think I have blocked two members in my time here. Both were genuine condescending asshats. There are a couple of others who are annoying, but not to the point of personal banishment. I can merely skip their remarks if they become trite and tiresome.

Nah, sometimes you have to ignore trolls. Some people take a weird pleasure in derailing threads and insulting people, and my life is better when I don't see their posts.
