Now that I received the Raven, I can do a side-by-side comparison until my almost identical MS sells. At this point, the regeneration strength feels identical. What is different is the noise while in full regeneration under 30 MPH.
Would the new front permanent magnet motor sound different than the previous version while regenerating?

How does it sounds different? In my 2017 100d, it is a high pitch whine sort of noise under regen.
My refresh 2016 has a slightly quieter \ lower pitch sound than the 2019 Raven. I am curious as to whether that's the nature of the Raven or just the one I have.

I might be out of the loop, but what's a Raven? ...and what components would make "Raven regeneration" different from other MS?

It's the Model S and Model X being made since April that have a Model 3-like motor in the front and adaptive suspension. A search for "Raven" on this forum would have told you what you asked.
