Re-occuring navigation unit failure in 2018 Model S 85D.

Car is currently under 4 year 50k warranty purchased last year as CPO. Service center cleared out memory with some type of reset once, which worked only for a few days. Car now is continually miss-located off the road miles away on the navigation system map, so navigation and Homelink can't be used. I'm wondering if the Navigation system is controlled by the infamous multimedia unit which is now the subject of extended warranty replacement described as manifesting itself as a black screen. I've had infrequent black screens that resolved itself after driving a bit, resetting (scroll wheels) or restarting later.

I've been holding off on the $2,500 MCU2 upgrade. I had read if the MCU1 fails the upgrade is discounted to $1,750, but the Service Center was not aware of that.

My question is; is the Navigation system controlled by the multimedia MCU1 chip?
