So many wins here. Millions of mapping miles for tesla, easier autonomy, dramatic improvement of emissions. Can't wait to see it.
While a bit more information about their ideas will be nice to know, I'd be much happier to see tweets about Model 3.
Sounds great - but he's going to need to partner with Truckstops to provide a LOT more superchargers, in a configuration that trucks can use, and might be at for 4-5 hours. (how long does it take to supercharge a 300kwh battery? 500kwh?)
Maybe, but Elon is probably thinking more long term where there won't be a need for someone in the cab.
I have to say this is somewhat puzzling - very long distance heavy duty electric hauling is the last area I expected to make the change over. Can this work without battery swapping stations? The market for metropolitan delivery & service vehicles of all kinds seems a more perfect target to me, with world wide demand too. There must be some pressure to utilize the Gigafactory's humongous output.
