Real door ambient lights coming?

Stumbled across this video where they were swapping door trims:

At the 4:55 mark (and throughout the video), you can see blue tabs already installed behind each door to power what seems to be ambient lights.

Wondering if this suggests they’ll be coming out with ambient-light-enabled trim pieces in the near future, which can be retrofitted if you buy the trims with lights (prob a $1k retrofit). @B-lon did hint they are introducing new features soon that existing cars can accommodate, wonder if this is one of them.

Would really light up an otherwise plain and dark interior.

These aren’t the existing dim white ones, but rather I think the unused plugs will be fitted to door trims that have LED lights built into them, similar to the Mercedes and Porsche ones.

Or at least that’s what I’m hoping.

Teslas current “ambient lights” leave lots to be desired.

There seems some confusion about ambient lights. All of the 2021-2023 MS LR/Plaid have ambient lighting (See DerbyDave's images above).

It appears there was a plan to offer additional strip lighting in place of the silver accents below the wood area on the doors and dashboard. The very first Palarium MS shipped actually had the LEDs in place but were never activated. Presumably, there was some issue - perhaps too dim. Anyway, they switched from an LED strip (actually a single LED per strip) to an aluminum strip on each door/dash. The blue connectors were left in place. They appear to have a data line, so the LED strips might have been multicolor as well, where the existing ambient lights are all white.

No one knows if Tesla will add this LED lighting either in new production or as a retrofit. One owner did buy and install the LED dash panel versions, but there is no way to activate them. Either the software was never released or it requires higher permissions than the service team has to activate the feature.
