Rear Brakes Clunk After Parked Overnight

Is it normal that my rear brakes don't release after being parked overnight there is always a loud clunk when backing out of my garage. This only happens the first time I drive the car after that it's fine for the day. Just want to make sure there's no damage or should I schedule a service appointment?

It's normal if they are wet or it is very humid when you put the car up.. Use the brakes a bit on the way home to heat up the disks and it won't happen.

It's a side effect of metallic pads and regenerative braking.

It is the pads sticking to the rotor since the parking brake clamped them down nice and tight when you got home!

100% normal (for all cars, not just the Model 3), especially if you're in an area that uses salt on the roads in winter.

If you have a short commute and drive in wet winter conditions, I suggest using the Roll stop mode if you're using Hold currently - it makes you use the brakes a tiny bit more, helping to clean the braking surface bit by bit.

Could this happen even when not braking? I've had this clunking occur only when moving forward.

Have the same problem. To resolve it, try setting your regen settings to low and turn off brake hold. Then go for a long drive ~1hr with lots of stop and go where you use your brakes. Then with back to standard region and brake hold (or what ever settings you like).

Originally I did not believe this would fix it, but it has resolved my issues a few times during the 3 winters I've had my car.
