Rear defroster

I picked up the model 3 yesterday, and the paint looks good but I noticed something on the rear defroster, part of the element doesn’t look right. they kept saying it’s nothing and it won’t impact the operation of the defroster. Any thoughts? Would hate to get it tinted and then find out there is an issue and they have to remove the tint. I’ve attached a picture and you’ll see part of the line for the defroster is not fully there

Looks like a broken trace. Try connecting a meter to see if there is continuity and compare with others (not sure if there is an insulating costing you can't poke through to get a good reading)...or do as ewoodrick suggested and see if it de fogs.

But definitely don't tint until you are sure it's working properly.

Confirmed that the rear defroster doesn’t work on the areas where the trace element is broken, damn, no appointments until the end of the month at the service center so have to wait on getting the tinting done. Wonder how they will fix this?

If they did use something like that instead of replacing the windshield, I would be asking for some additional compensation from them for accepting this on a brand new car and not demanding a new rear window.

If it were me I'd start with asking for the cost of a new window as a service credit to compensate for the inconveniences of making a service appointment on a new car, and for the fact you were pressured into accepting what you thought (and were right about) was a defective rear window.

those are good points, i saw what a repair job can look like with that kind of a product and it doesn't look great. I wasn't sure how hard i should push because the real fix is a new rear window. I think what they did was use a razor to remove a sticker that was back there and by accident scraped the trace element in a couple of spots. I'll ask about a service credit if they don't replace the window. Still a pain and the delivery guys are just trying to pump people out of there.

I also notice one the rear seat belts was stuck inside of the seat and I managed to pull that out but it is misaligned. hope not to find any more issues.
