Rear door opens ONLY when drivers door is closed

I searched the forum and didn’t find any instance of this particular issue. My 2016 pre-face lift S70 just started having this weird issue where the rear driver’s side door only opens from the outside when the front driver’s side door is closed. The door handles present as usual, but when pulled the latch doesn’t unlock. But as soon as I shut the front door, pulling on the handle unlocks/opens the door. It’s just that rear driver’s side door and none of the other doors have this issue. At first I just thought it might be a software bug, but I did various resets including a complete factory reset and the problem persists. Unfortunately, my warranty just expired last month Jan 27, 2020, so unless Tesla decides to cover me, I might be looking at out of pocket repair cost. Would love to hear from others who might have had this same issue. Thanks.
