FYI
It appears that a few early model 3's have an issue with the bushings that hold the rear drive unit.
I have a service call in for mine to be replaced.
Unfortunately Tesla says that the bushing that holds the motor is not part of the drive unit warranty. I have 57K miles. Price to replace the bushing = $600+.
How does the thump actually happen?
1. Get up to 20+ MPH.
2. Regen down to 0 MPH.
3. Press the accelerator - thump.
Its at this point that I hear the rear drive thump against the bushing.
The bushing has to be replaced.
I have heard from folks with low VIN's experiencing the same thing.
