Hi everyone,

I just got rear ended last week, been waiting on the insurance adjuster and been stressing out since I canā€™t bring my car in to a Tesla collision center for a few weeks.

Was literally just waiting like the other cars in front of me when a Toyota van slammed into me and I ended up hitting the black Cadillac suv in front of me. What do yā€™all think itā€™ll cost to fix the damages?

I couldnā€™t drive my car, my Tesla said it was unsafe to do so. Any reassuring advice or comments are greatly appreciated šŸ„ŗ

P.S does anyone know why I couldnā€™t drive my car even though the screen turned on and everything? I did remember getting stuck in my seat belt like it was jammed immediately after getting hit. I had to mess around with it before I could unbuckle myself.

I definitely wouldn't drive that. I doubt that you will be at fault for any of this, but even so you are in for a very long repair. I had a fender bender in July and the parts just came in last week. Hopefully you have another car to drive, and if not you might want to think about just buying something while yours is being repaired. Of course your insurance company probably covers rentals, but most only cover that for a month. You will be out of your car for much longer than that.

I wonder if it might be as simple as your frunk hood latch could be misaligned, and it could turn into a catastrophic situation if the hood suddenly released and flew up and blocked the windshield while driving at speed....

Sorry that you got hit. A very similar accident happened to me 30yrs ago in a Saab. Cost me $8000 to repair back then. I can't imagine how much that costs today in a Tesla.
Yea my insurance company is leaning towards a total loss but is sending out an appraiser soon to verify. I honestly am hoping for a total loss then repair at this point since my insurance adjuster said Tesla is so backed up I might not get my car fixed for half a year or more

Update: the initial estimate is laughable lol. My appraiser back then said the damage was about 12k and unlikely to be a total loss. Now after the body shop has inspected it (and they still arenā€™t done) itā€™s now 30k for repairsā€¦
Iā€™m hoping the official estimate next week pushes me to total loss territory. Wish me luck haha

Iā€™ve seen smaller rear ends being totaled. So I wouldnā€™t be surprised by that.
