The reinforcing in the rear of the car is different for those cars not originally ordered with the rear facing seats. They are not safe unless the car was ordered with them!

Tesla will install the reinforcement for those interested. My local service center quoted about $1700 for the work. There is a service bulletin regarding this process.

In addition to the seat, buyers will need:
- reinforced bumper
-the plastic trim around the rear seatvack that needs to be cut out I expose the latch
Metal latches for both sides
- interior power liftgate switch

True. All of those items are included in the price the service center quoted me. I just asked them what's the price if I bring the seats myself.

Fwiw, see my diy thread on this install. Pricing for parts listed above isn't accurate. As was my experience, many service centers won't install seats you bring in.

When my SC wouldn't do it, I discovered you can get the rear reinforcement bar installed by an authorized body shop. Not expensive. I paid $315 for the part, labor and tax.

The other small parts you need you can buy directly from tesla - T-slot nuts, screws, left and right latches, tailgate switch. About $225 if you need all that.

This includes the crossmember.
