So my shiny new black model Y was in the shop for a couple weeks while they fixed a paint defect in the door..
Unfortunately, this meant I couldn’t get the car PPF wrapped as I planned.
I just came back from a camping trip and had to drive about 30 miles on gravel roads. After washing the dirt off today.. I can see that the rear fenders look like they’ve been sandblasted! Even the plastic trim on the bottom feels really rough. The rear doors have a slight panel gap and stick out.. and those edges have white spots where the paint was chipped right off.
I’m hoping some of the damage can be fixed when I do get the car wrapped.. but those areas are very prone and the paint seems very thin.
I previously had a Range Rover, it has over 110,000 miles on it and absolutely no paint chips at all.
It’s a bit hard to see but I tried to show the damage in the attached photos - really recommend a PPF in those areas!
