rear license plate removal - stuck on

Hi,

Just got a new Tesla 3. I wanted to swap out the Tesla frame with Silicone. It looks like the license plate is stuck on? With double sided tape?

The front plate mount is secured with double sided tape. The rear is just held on by screws. Which plate are you trying to work on?

Well, fishing line will cut double sticky tape if that’s what it is

Wait, how are you supposed to install your DMV issued metal license plate when it comes in if the frame is glued on? Or does Machu Picchu require the plate to be already installed by the seller before the car is delivered to the buyer?

are you talking about the black plastic plate mount that's UNDER the plate? that doesn't come off...

no. I have a license plate in the Tesla frame. Both attached to the car with 2 screws.
I removed the two screws. Neither licenses plate of frame can be removed. Seem like there is a double sided tape between license plate and back plate.

So the license plate was already installed by Tesla when you picked up your car?

There is some foam on the back of the little feet of that OEM silver plate surround. It is possible it’s stuck. FWIW my rear plate is attached with 4 screws....make sure you’ve removed all the screws, then gently yank.

If the screws are removed the plate should move about inside of the frame. If they are both stuck in position, I’d bet a peso you have a screw or two still in. Highly unlikely it would be glued or taped on.
