I saw the link below which offers newly designed control arms for the rear suspension that will stop extreme inside edge tire wear. Is that really a problem for many?

This is not a problem if you get a proper alignment done every time you put on new tires. Keep in mind if you lower the X suspension to always very low you can see this after 5,000-7,000 miles. You can counter this by getting a proper alignment. Also those arms are very expensive.

I have this concern. I will be raising and lowering the car for easy entry because of back issues. Will more frequent alignment be needed or only when purchasing or rotating tires?

how often should tire rotation be done?

I'm the same as you. That was my reasoning to purchase the X over the S. I can raise it up high enough to get in and out and with the self closing doors I don't need to bend to reach the handle to close the door.
