Received "Update available" but couldn't update [Service center pushed update and it installed]

Waiting for the firmware update but there has been no update notice popping up from my Tesla app.

I checked the Software screen on my Tesla screen today and found the "Update available: Please connect to Wi-Fi to download the Software Update" note. My car was connected to the Wifi in my garage but the nothing happened when I pressed on the update status bar.

Is the update available or not? How can I enable the update? Thanks.

Sometimes they will recall/cancel an update if an issue arises. It’s usually a good thing you don’t have to deal with a buggy release.

Do you have Sentry Mode on? If so, turn it off and try again.

It's off. I turned it on and off again. There was no change.

Ok sorry. That’s the only time I’ve seen it not work for me. Maybe schedule service and choose software update so they can push it again.

Thank you. I saw this kind of update note for the first time. Maybe something new, but half-baked, with the Software Update Preference feature.

I got a text from my SC about an hour later saying they were pushing a new update, sure enough they did shortly after. Good luck!

I believe Tesla App only shows ‘update is available’ when it is fully downloaded and ready to install, while the car indicates ‘update is ready to be downloaded’. So this is the difference.

Just let it sit for a while when connected to Wi-Fi and it will eventually download it.

While being parked today away from my house, I got the message "consider adding wifi connection" which would mean an update is ready to be pushed.

My guess is the download failed once and is somehow stuck in this status.

In that pic, your WiFi signal is pretty weak. When you tried at work, was it also weak? That could be your problem.

Finally someone with exactly the same problem! My WiFi signal was strong with the router a few inches away.

I finally received a new update notification around 4 AM at night. Just got to wait apparently.
I did schedule a service appointment for "Update Software" yesterday, maybe that triggered something?

I called the service center yesterday and confirmed that the update got stuck. They cancelled the update and re-pushed it this morning. A new firmware got installed!

Yeah, right.
I was having the same issue with the Navigation data update for days.
It started to downloading it and got stuck.
I contacted Tesla through the Support chat, they restarted the process.

I was able to resolve this issue (have WiFi, update stuck) by rebooting the car - hold both steering wheel scroll buttons down until screen goes dark.

Mine has been doing the same for about a week. Its connected to Wifi but wont download. Theres another thread that says if you do a soft reset followed by a full power down and power up that it will clear and allow it to download. I havent tried it yet though.

Wow, version 16.2... That was way back in April. Mine was delivered in April with 8, then went to 12 almost immediately then to 28.. 16.2 huh?
