Referral Reward: Forged Performance Wheels

Yep. So I made a servic appointment and said I want the referral wheels and then this AM service reached out saying they need a note added to my account for this.

I called Tesla and they have no clue about this process and said it appears that I followed the directions as laid out on the website, but suggested emailing the referral program directly for more info.

Will let you guys know what I hear from them regarding timeline and the missing "forged" word in the description.

Are you trying to see if they will just install the 20" wheels from the Model 3 Performance? I guess the new language could be interpreted as such...

Heard back from the infamous Josh with the referral program, he says the "Forged Performance Wheels for Model 3 are not yet available but are expected to move through production during the coming months" and that's about it.

At least he used the term Forged :)

unfortunately he just means they’re waiting for cheap Chinese knockoffs to hit the market. Not the kind of “forged” most people are excited about.

*sigh*

I was expecting to have the referral wheels with brand new PS4S tires before my first set expires, but it looks like I'll need to take advantage of the Black Friday promotions as this SoCal rain is no bueno for my balding tires.

I need to do the same but will likely upsize my tires and get the 245/35R20's. Though I'm so close to trying 265/30R20's on the stock rims. On paper they should fit, just worried about the top suspension knuckle.

I'm been waiting forever, but I guess I'm really thinking of just buying these wheels now and continue to wait for Tesla....

I'm looking at getting another set of VMR wheels as well, heard they will be announcing a pretty good Black Friday sale in the next few days and i've been super happy with the price/strength/weight for the V710FF that i have now.

I really dislike how T-Sportline only offers a standard width (8.5") package OR a staggered one, but nothing wider in square. If they offered a wider square set, i'd probably buy it.

Contacted for an update:

Hello Chris,
The Forged Performance Wheels for Model 3 are not yet available but are expected to move through production during the coming months. We expect they will be available for widespread installations early next year. The long wait is understandably frustrating, so your continued patience is appreciated!

Best,

I wouldn't hold my breath. The messages i've received from the referral team essentially say "we have no information on these at all"

They don't know what they look like or sizes they'd come in and said that the fulfillment timeline has been pushed back multiple times for unknown reasons. They said their best guess for when they'd be available was early next year.

At this point I'd be more surprised if we actually do get them at all

So we're still waiting to see the "track pack" for the Model 3 that has been discussed (245 Cup 2 tires & better brake pads were rumored) and i'm wondering if they would include these forged wheels with that too. Would make sense to wait to give us wheels until that new package is available, maybe a 2020 thing when the tax credit goes away.
