Vendor Refresh Model S LR/Plaid : Winter Tire Option

Just pick the tire and choose "I do not wish to enter vehicle information for this item."

103 load rating is more than enough for the Model S. Keep in mind that OEM 265/35/21 & 295/30/21 only has load rating of 101 & 102.
I asked the Tire Rack rep how the same car could ship with a different-size tire with a much lower rating and didn't get a response... Then I sent another message with a pic of the door tag showing the GAWRs and now they're processing my order. :D

FYI, the new NOKIAN HAKKAPELIITTA 10 EV come in (studded only)

295/30R21 102T XL SILENTDRIVE STUDDED

max load 1870 lb, up to 118 mph

265/35R21 101T XL SILENTDRIVE STUDDED

max load 1819 lb, up to 118 mph

Nokians are great tires. I saw those and asked Nokian about it. They confirmed that is there only tire with matching front/rears. Shame - these are unstoppable. Would sound like a football team going down a tunnel on the road.

Thanks for all the research in this thread, its been immensly helpful. After 3 service visits, tens of emails to tesla service (which have never once been replied to by my service advisors), and multiple other calls to Tesla - they all refuse to acknowledge their team told me I would get All Season tires on the 19's; but yet came as winter tires. No one will reply at all regarding if they will help swap out with winter tires. As its winter now....I have no choice but to buy them myself. Terrible service from the company, but glad this website has good resources to use! I am glad I opted out of "arbitration" when I bought the car :)

I don't understand your message.
Sounds like you got winter tires. What's the problem?

Whoops! I meant we got the Summer tires on the 19's, although Tesla assured me they would be All Seasons. At pickup, I was told they would get back to me regarding the issue. Its been months of talking into a blackhole trying to get anyone to even provide a response, even a denial they will exchange them.

As we are getting into winter time and more Refresh Model S being delivered to the owner, you will realize the winter tire selection could very limited + lots of headache when searching for them. Which can be true because there's no exact matching tire to match the OEM setup. Most of the time, Online tire websites won't show you the mismatch tire selection when you put in front and rear size.

It took me a lovely afternoon to gather all the possible options for the winter in variable sizes and prices. I hope this info will help the owner to decide which fits the best for their need.

No need to shop around, the link take you to exact retailer for ordering.

Feel free to leave your feedback on the specific tire if you had them on your car before (Preferred been use on high hoursepower applicaiton)

Hi Jamie @SignatureWheel
I'm traded my 2016 Model S P90D with a plaid. Can I use my 19" winter tire and wheel set on the plaid? I have the 21” performance wheels and tires on her now. Thanks in advance for the help.

Yes, either setup will work. 275/35/21 all around will be more ideal. But keep in mind that the rear 21x10.5 with 275 will result in slight tire stretch. (Sidewall will not provide any protection against curb)

Hi, Is there a specific reason for the preference of 275/35/21 on all four corners? I dont deal with snow but its can get in the 20's at night in the winter in the SoCal High Desert. I was thinking of going with the Pilot Sport all Season 4 with 265 in the front and 275 in the rear. I know it would be stretched in the rear like on the Y as I previously had one

It’s more of the personal preference. I think 265/275 combo is too small of the difference. Might as well go with 275 all around and you can still rotate them if you need to ( have a tire shop dismount and swap them around)

I thought of the 275 in the rear (until 295 is available in A/S) but the stretch looks bad. But primarily the 21's have very low sidewalls and the rim needs the protection that a stretched tire will not provide.

I pick up my 20x10 with 285/35r20 (all four) on Friday or Saturday. Will post pics.

Have you seen any pics of 275 with the Arachnids? This is the stock setup on the Model Y
