DELIVERY UPDATE
LR MX, Blue, 5 seats, FSD, Ebony Interior

Sunday AM: My delivery window went from July back to 4/28-5/4 in the app/on the website
Sunday 2 PM: A delivery specialist called from SC in Kennesaw, GA to check my contact info, told me my car was still @ Fremont, that Tesla would send me a text to schedule a delivery appointment sometime this week
Monday AM: Text arrived from Tesla inviting me to schedule my delivery appointment, gave me 4/30 thru 5/3. I chose Sunday 5/1 @ 1 PM
Snafu: And only one. When I attempted to upload the insurance rider in the app as requested I got the Tesla spinning T of death, it failed to upload.

I'm having a hard time grasping this. After 15 months of slipping delivery windows, it finally came and it looks like I'll have an MX to drive a week after Tesla first contacted... plus 15 months!

I can take photos and stuff, but do you really need 'em? Lots of people have already posted theirs, nothing spectacular about what I'm picking up regarding MXes. While I look decent for my age, my cover hunk photo for romance novels days are behind me.

Really can't believe Godot is finally arriving. He was a loooooonnnggg time coming.

I would agree with her. The long trips add 20-30% overhead and you are forced to eat at mostly crappy fast food restaurants near the superchargers.
yup. I go thru the next 3 Superchargers on the route and call the restaurants out to the wife. She looks at menus, picks and we’re good.

Long distance trip in EV will take longer, but it’s a lot more enjoyable. The key is to treat the trip as part of the vacation. We have premium connectivity and we really enjoy watching movies during supercharging stop. As a matter of fact, oftentimes we let the charging to go longer than what’s suggested by the trip planner because we haven’t finished the show that we watch. Longer stop also gives you the opportunity to stretch and walk around a little. When you arrive at your destination, you usually feel more relaxed and not as tired.

One more thing. Because the auto pilot does most of the driving in the highway, I feel more rested when I arrive. I will not trade this with faster trip in ICE car anymore.
She'll find out you had to stop anyway for kid stuffs. Just make sure to plan your meals from a supercharger.
Yea. Won’t be our first rodeo. We drove to Tulsa, OK last year in my M3 and she hated it. I agree that we’d have to stop for kids anyway but she doesn’t see it that way. She’s used to her father and his Raptor trying to beat his best time every trip. I’m actually looking forward to it to see how the X handles the mountains. Not to mention that huge windshield giving me a breathtaking view.

You can modify your order and keep your base price by emailing [email protected].
Do not go through your SA. I tried going through my SA and he said I would have to pay current pricing. Emailed order support and Jorge made the changes.
I just changed mined last week, any SA's can do it. Just make sure when you can Tesla, press 2 for Deliveries and then tell them that you havent been assigned a VIN yet and you want to change the seat configuration.

It didnt trigger a new price update.

This is the big question for me. We have 4 kids so need the six seater. We have some road trips coming this summer, currently planned in the minivan because seems unlikely I’ll get my X by then :-(. But I’m wondering if it will even be comfortable for a road trip for six and if we can fit all the luggage.
Depends how much luggage you’re talking about.

If you don't like the food near the Superchargers, bring your own. Or stop at Superchargers that have grocery stores nearby. Lots of ways to handle the food angle.

This is giving me hope, we have the same configuration as you. When did you place your order?

Having recently done a FL to AZ trip in a M3, it's definitely the food choices that were the only negative. Stopping to charge was no big deal. Driving was super easy with AP. But the food selections were atrocious. I still remember how elated I was when we stopped in Phoenix to charge and there was a Sprouts to buy actual vegetables and fruit.

By the way, don't worry about low state of charge on trips! I pulled into the Wilcox Supercharger (Deming was out of service) with 0% on the display.

Is it really true that the Energy screen has been removed from the X? I can't imagine any good reason to do that, as it's the single best tool to know whether you have enough charge to arrive at your destination.

I just got an interesting email from Rivian. They explained that to streamlin the production ramp, they are going to batch certain interiors, wheels and exteriors together for efficiency purposes. They mentioned that people may have the option to change their configuration and possibly get their vehicle sooner.

At least they are being transparent about what they are doing and why. Doesn’t get the car in my hands any sooner, but it feels good knowing what the decision making process is.

i was under the impression that all of the overtaxed super chargers were mostly in Cali. Are they that busy in those states?
I’m just telling him he’s brave because he has to own literally any delay in the trip.

I’m in Missouri. I rarely use superchargers locally, but my experience has been that they do not tend to be overcrowded here.

I want pics.

Nice! Almost my exact config, and ordered only one month before me. Hopefully this means the factory is back to building 6 seaters. I added your info to the spreadsheet. Did you really get VINned exactly 1 year after your order date? (i'm assuming the 2021 on your VIN date was a typo)
I saw that when I typed the VIN. Yeah...it was exactly 365 days, got vinned also on 4/12/2022. Definitely a coincidence. Wasn't sure if Tesla was just playing with me......seems very suspect.

As an LE holder with OC interior and guide contact with delivery expected in the next month... I'm not happy at all.

Again I am comparing it an ICE road trip. Enjoying great restaurants along the way is one of the gear perks of these long trips. Eating packed meals or grocery store meals is not a great substitute for foodies.
