Been about a month since I took delivery now and the car is fantastic. It was delivered with a dent on the rear lid and some paint defect which they are fixing next week during a service appointment. My dirt bike tipped over and dented the FWD too… but it had to go into the body shop anyways. However, overall the car was in great condition. I didn’t have any notable alignment issues for them to address. Make sure you report everything in the first 100mi because my service center is putting up a stink about me reporting another paint defect on the front hood after the 100mi 🤨

If anyone is looking for the brake controller connector they moved it to the lower driver footwell. You will need to peel back the carpet and see it there. I mounted a Tekonsha Prodigy iD controller and it matched the black interior like a factory look. I still need to get the brake controller wire harness since it’s not included with the tow hitch…

I decided to check in over the Rivian forums to see how the R1S Launch Edition reservation holders are doing, and somehow they’re even worse off than we are!

Been following this thread for a while now and thought I'd share the disaster of a car that was waiting for me today at the Tysons Corner service center. Originally ordered white on white Plaid w/ 20 inch wheels in January 2022. Changed my mind a couple of times on color and ended up going back to the same combo in March.

Like many of you, my delivery date was stuck on October 2022 until the end of May at which point it bounced around with the last range being July 17 - August 4th. Then on 6/3 got a VIN and notification to schedule delivery on 6/4. They gave me a whole 5 - 7 days to get financing lined up (check from bank still not not arrived as of today).

Cutting to the chase, received a VIN in the 3447XX. When my wife and I showed up, car looked good from far but was far from good. In no particular order, here is the list of things that we discovered in about 15 minutes not even using the delivery checklist:

1. Molding on bottom of driver side door had clip that needed to be pushed in (I fixed it but how they didn't see this I will never know)
2. Cooling seats didn't work on driver's side
3. "Obstruction detected" message when trying to close driver's side FWD.
4. Rock chips on front bumper
5. Trunk alignment was terrible and even delivery specialist admitted it looked bad.
6. All four captains chairs has wrinkles on the seats
7. Molding above glove box on passenger's side was not seated. Suspected it may again be a clip but I couldn't fix it.
8. FWD handles recessed into door and not flush.

Other than that, she was a beauty. Even the service advisor recommended that we reject the car which is exactly what we ended up doing.

As a shareholder, I was glad there was literally a line out the door for other customer's accepting delivery. As a customer, this is piss poor, especially for a vehicle of this price range.

Here are pictures of 2 of the 4 captains chairs. I didn't take any more pictures once it was evident we'd be rejecting it.

Damn, that sucks. Did they give you an estimated wait for new VIN assignment?

disappointing obviously. curious if anyone else has an older model x with white seats, do these wrinkles show up later on with normal "wear and tear". i have ONE wrinkle in my third row passenger seat. not very noticeable but it's there. didn't bother me, no other issues when i picked up in march. i also had the normal panel gap issues and misalignment. i don't find those to be "real issues". if you look at any other car in this price range...they have very similar issues. we don't make a big deal about it because it's not Tesla. things not "lining up" properly are somewhat normal in most cars from 50k-150k price range but there is certainly a tolerance to what's acceptable and not. most of what i see on her is NOT acceptable.

My rejected VIN from last week is back in the app and the delivery date was pushed to this week from July 10-early august. Hoping it’s an error or the system is updating but showing the older VIN. I emailed Jorge as posted above.
They just texted me to schedule delivery and its the exact same VIN I previously rejected. Anyone have a suggestion on who to escalate this to? My local Tesla SA is long gone from the company as is the manager who we had a prior relationship with. The SA I dealt with rejecting it the first time around promised to send me his contact information and Ive yet to hear anything. I replied to the auto text but doubt it will be seen. Thanks.

Where is the latest MXLR delivery checklist located?
Here is one at the 3rd tab on the bottom of the Model X order tracking sheet.

They’ve never shown up with time on any of mine. Always have had white seats.

My fear came true this morning. The June 17 - Jul 8 EDD was moved back to Aug - Sept. 😢 so bummed.
Financing and trade in were all arranged so will have to redo all of that. High probability I may just take delivery of the Cadillac Lyriq in September at less than half the price. Maybe switch this order from a plaid to LR. If I don’t like the Lyriq could always switch to the LR X when that would finally show up in a year.

We’ll see. Maybe this will switch earlier again but feels unlikely. View attachment 815745
I promise the wait is worth it. I can’t see the Lyriq being nearly as fun to drive/own.
