MXLR, Red, 6 seats, black interior, regular rims, with FSD to SoCal
Order July 2021. Original EDD January 2022, progressively moved back, usually in big chunks. Since mid October, it's essentially been a sliding 3 week window, nearly slipping day-for-day. As the holidays approached, we were travelling out of state to see family for the first time since before COVID. When the delivery window started to intersect with this time period (out of state Dec 19 - Jan 4), I proactively notified Tesla via text, and they acknowledged my travel, but didn't know when a VIN would even be assigned. I departed for my trip and out of nowhere, received a VIN on Dec 20th. Got the text to schedule delivery today and the only options were December 26th and 27th. I contacted them, they said no problem, we'll place it on hold until 1/1/23 and then it would get back in queue at that point. Great! Plenty of time for VIN, financing, and delivery scheduled for after returning from my trip. Then they respond, saying they made a mistake, the last day they can hold until is 12/25 (as in 3 days from now). I also got an email saying this is the final hold (this is the ONLY hold, I got the BS email over the summer saying it was on hold and no more holds would be allowed) and that if I was unable to take delivery, the order would be cancelled. I responded, respectfully expressing my displeasure that we've had this on order for almost 18 months and proactively notified them I was unable, and yet they're waiving order cancellation in my face. I'll take the hold until 12/25 and see what happens, but I don't have a great feeling about being able to delay this until after we return from our trip. Any insight into how flexible Tesla might be? Or any advice on what to do in this situation? Frustrating to have been waiting 18 months while many people here have waited far shorter times and be in this situation where Tesla is refusing to wait more than 3 days.
