What does everyone think about this - Plaid has smaller pack, accommodates additional motor. Guess LR of course has the same size pack even without 3rd motor.
Overall seems fine that range increases due to efficiency but sure would have like to see LR with still a higher 104kWh pack and even more range :-/

It appears they're also doing so by using less space in the pack, as the "penthouse" area in the front that included two stacked modules on 400V cars now appears to have the onboard charger and other electronics (similar to the 3/Y). 96% of prior energy capacity in 87.5% of the space should imply a relatively significant increase in cell energy density.

there is a reason why they went away with the numeric naming structure.

they have been about reducing costs so this shouldnt be a surprise

Unbelievable that Plaid is getting those performance stats with less battery capacity. I guess Elon was right that the new carbon-wrapped motors contain alien technology.

Or really even that it inverts a trend - more performance and range from fewer more energy-dense cells is exactly in line with all innovation and progress to date.
