Back in December 2012 our first model S had no problems. We got a 90D in December 2016. When we walked up to it my wife opened the rear hatch and it would not close. They mumbled apoligies and drove the car back to the service department before we had a good look at it. That evening a service porter delivered the car to my office in the dark. Somewhere between those two transactions Tesla changed the system so that you pay for the car and sign papers before you even get a chance to check the new one. The first experience in 2012 was joyful, the second was a big disappointment. I have heard the newer cars are better, but the quality control and delivery process are worse.
