My car is in long-term storage in PA and the CA non-op registration expires 3/2021. I do not plan to renew the CA registration--must I register the car in PA if it is not being driven? Thanks!
If it's not being driven, should not be an issue. When you're ready to drive it, and register it, you MAY have to pay back registration costs, depending on the taxing authority.
I’m not sure about PA, but in Oklahoma we can buy a black tag to use when the car isn’t being driven. It’s much less expensive and you down’t have to pay back taxes when you put it back on the road.
California non-operation registrations don't expire, you pay the non-op fee once and it remains in non-op status until you change it, you don't pay annually like you do with an operating vehicle.
