I had some ski poles in the trunk that ended up scratching up the plastic trim.

Does anyone have advice on how to remove or minimize these? I've read about using a heat gun to smooth them out but would like to try a less invasive option first.

You probably won't be able to recreate the pebble texture of the original plastic so it might end up making it look worse.
Yeah I've done some leather and trim repair on my old toyotas using this method:
so getting the mold of the trunk panel and heating up the errant part and pressing this mold should get it close to original/somewhat better. just have to make sure to not press too hard otherwise you'll create an indent, and also feather it out so it blends nicely
