    WOW. salvage title for a mostly cosmetic minor dent. that's just sad that insurance companies would rather just declare these very valuable cars as junk :(

    It's all about the repair estimates they put together. They probably value the car at $55k. And perhaps the estimator came up with $25k in damages (making up a number). They'd rather give $55k to their customer, and sell the car for $40k meaning they're only out $15k, versus spend $25k on repairs. It's simple math.

    I've read of people figuring out a way to keep the car, keep a clean title, and pay for the repairs out of pocket if they really want the car to stay out of salvage status. But it's not cheap. (That was with a limited edition sports car, not a Tesla)

    hmm, I want one that looks quite a bit worse than that, preferably a P
    also would like much more body panel damage since I don't actually want any of the 'skin'
