People have mostly talked so far about where charging stations should be, and a little about what pre existing stores they could be located next to. I wanted to take this idea one step further to a near to medium near future of wide EV adoption. I have found rest stops along interstates for the most part although convenient, rather depressing. What would be at your dream EV recharging station/rest stop? I would want: Open green space for kids, dogs, adults to move around; Food - whole foods like buffet; Shopping - local crafts Entertainment/Exercise -- By the hour high tech, connected, interactive gym ie bike through virtual environments or against someone else at another rest stop Intelectual Stimulation -- changing interative exhibits on alternative energy and sustainable living practices maybe sponsored by someone like Real Goods Oh yeah almost forgot my car -- enough charging stations to meet demand (but not too fast a charge so I would stick around) This kind of Rest Stop would not only be convenient, but a destination/highlight of a trip Or we could have booze, casinos and Mcdonalds as has already been suggested in another thread.
Except for the "not too fast a charge" your wish list matches mine. These have the advantage of already being in place so only the superchargers need to be added. The others would all require extensive development.
