Hello I just picked up my shiny new Y to go with my wife’s 3 (I was jealous). Learning all the similarities and differences. But I did notice right away that my Y doesn’t make any noise when going in reverse. Is that by design? Or an issue? Not sure if I should call the service center. FWIW I actually like the sound the 3 makes in reverse.

I pulled down our driveway, then backed up to the garage door (I back in to reach the charger, love the camera views). My wife was working in the garage with both doors open and didn’t know I was home until she turned around and saw me. She says it’s creepy watching me silently pull out of the garage. Even the dogs didn’t hear me coming. 
Wonder if the dogs will learn the electric motor sound, if it generates sound outside our range but inside theirs. They could tell I was home when I turned down our street in my old BMW 3.

Got it! Thanks for letting me know. I’m so used to our 3 making the UFO noise that it caught my eye (or ear?) right away!
