The LHD car has the charging port on the driver's side which is really useful for those people with smaller parking spaces - there is always enough space for the driver to get in and out of the car AND plug in for a charge.

If they leave the port where it is, then it becomes a bit of a problem, as both the UK and Japan tend to have narrow parking spaces, often with limited access.

It would be really great if they have swapped the port over...

I asked the question before getting a charger installed they have not moved it for RHD so its on the passenger side.

Probably best unchanged. If you take your car to any supercharger, tesla wont have to make spaces wide enough to accommodate both rhd and lhd cars.

I'm wondering how this works in countries like Germany where you have to park facing the direction of travel. That makes the charge port stick out into the street.

but how many model S owners will charge on street, suspect most will be in car parks/superchargers or at home (off stree)

Some of us can't charge at home, and most of us will charge wherever we can, which will include the street...

Thinking about this some more, it makes more sense having it on the passenger side, as this means that if the car is parked facing in the same direction as the traffic, the cable will not be sticking out into the road.

Best solution would be to have 2 charging ports :)
