"The effort is backed by conservative public relations specialists and Trump insiders which are funded by fossil fuel interests. Unsurprisingly, it is full of misinformation about Tesla, electric vehicles, and solar energy."

That's just maddening. And on a lot of levels it makes no sense. If there's one great example of a new American enterprise creating new American jobs, it's Tesla.

We shall see whether rational support of new factory employment in the USA, including Michigan toll and Die makers, will understand that many jobs came to the US because of Tesla, displacing mostly German workers, so should be supported rather than denigrated. of course, Tesla is based in California, not one of the President-elect's favorite States. The oil and gas people aren't fans either, nor are the Russians or, presumably, the alt-right.

It is entirely possible that this might turn out favorably for Tesla, even though the probability may not be high for that outcome.

How ironic it would be if under Trump Tesla Motors decided to only expand abroad.

In Tesla's home country I only expect the anti-Musk propaganda to worsen, but I think it comes too late to stop the global ICE to BEV conversion.

In for example Beijing the smog problems are so massive, that from February 10 year-old cars will be banned from driving there. I can only imagine that as soon as they can, they will ban any ICE there.

So the world will move on, with or without the USA.

One of the main reasons that I bought my Model X is that it's made in California. Musk has been a blessing to the United States.

I live in The Netherlands, but having chosen Tesla as my next car feels better than ever.
As a matter of fact, I feel like getting some TSLA stock now!

Republicans have always disliked SpaceX because it's a private company competing against ULA which is pretty much in bed with the government.

Republicans like John McCain who bend over backwards for SpaceX including banning Russian rocket engines that ULA still uses until Vulcan?

One gets the feeling that conventional interests are better organized and do have a stronger lobby, with the Koch bros. as grand puppet masters on the background. Perhaps time to up the ante. Maybe the State of California can help organize all those who favor change, like Tesla is representing, to curb Climate Change etc.

    Interesting... Begin reading after
"Why do rich Democrats take David Brock seriously?"
"Today, BuzzFeed reported that Brock, who runs a constellation of organizations that backed Hillary Clinton in the 2016 race, such as American Bridge, Media Matters, and Shareblue, is organizing a summit for top Democratic donors next week in a bid to establish a Koch brothers–like infrastructure to channel their money into liberal causes."

Brock's a former extremist establishment Republican dirty-tricks, dishonest-propaganda agent. According to him, he "saw the light" and started fighting against the other people like himself. He is what he is.

So what are we to make of Elon Musk's participation on Trumps Technology Summit on December 14th.

From the LA Daily News: SpaceX founder Elon Musk joins other tech giants in summit with Donald Trump

"Just before he met with the titans of Silicon Valley on Wednesday, President-elect Donald Trump named high-tech entrepreneurs Elon Musk, creator of Tesla and SpaceX, and Uber chief executive Travis Kalanick as his two newest strategic advisers.

In a news release, Trump officials said the pair would join the president-elect’s Strategic and Policy Forum, which already includes such financial luminaries as Disney chief Bob Iger, Jamie Dimon of JP Morgan and IBM’s Ginny Rometty."

I took this as a hopeful sign.

It is said that Trump goes with whoever he talks to last. So Musk at the table is a good thing. I think the next 4 years will be a rough ride, but I'm not worried about Tesla.

My thoughts exactly. The Electrek article that spawned this thread is dated 9/22. I remain optimistic about Tesla's future. Just bought my second MS and have a M3 reservation to replace a 2011 LEAF. Hopefully, Trump will realize that Tesla epitomizes his goal for American innovation and manufacturing, and will override the histrionics of the fossil fuel industry and those of NADA.
