I have installed these rim protection bands on my new Model S in march, I believe these are the same as what evannex sells.
So far, they were outstanding : no adherence issue (the tape is very strong), and I hit a curb once when turning left, and it saved the rim, which doesn't have a scratch, while the tire had a big cut just 1cm from the rim edge.
However, the bad surprise, was first tire replacement. The tire shop tech had to fully remove them. It let a large amount of thick tape residue, which is extremely hard to remove. I have tried rim cleaner, isopropyl alcohol, WD40, these doesn't have any effect on the residue. With the nail you may remove it but this is super hard.
The supplier website has a video showing super easy removal of the bands... This may be the case on bare metal rims, but not on paint ones.
Did you ever encounter this issue?
Thanks!
