RIP #994

Well, confirmation is in. Spoke with a lead tech at Tesla. Unlike the MS, the damage to a Roadster’s batteries is fatal when “allowed” to go to 0%. Cost of reconditioning the battery (with the 35% upgrade in capacity) is a cool $29,000. And even then, the significant question exists, will Tesla even work on it with a Salvage title. The tech I spoke with said, no they won’t.

Sigh.... Goodbye #994.

Looks like a flip is in the works.

Went and looked at her today, she's in a sad state.
Battery is in fact bricked, car will NOT charge whatsoever. They've attempted to have the pack disassembled and individual cells charged then reassembled.

Buyer beware.

The hunt for a roadster to put under the Exige S, in our garage, continues.

Shame, as after I finish putting the P85 unit in my Porsche I feel I could do the same with a roadster thus bypassing the PEM and using any configuration battery I wish with programmable power and regen and a 12v DC converter that only costs $200 to replace. I’m sure there’s an arguement to salvage this car but unfortunately you can’t save them all.
