Everyone knows I am a huge fan of Tesla. But no one has ever forced a date out of them. They know their technical challenges and they are the ones that announce when something will be launched|available|delivered. They own their own calendar.

I'm not going to give them a pass on punctuality. It's totally within their control. And if they hit a problem (technical, suppliers, whatever), communication is totally within their control also.

They are very punctual and deliberate on when and how they release/leak information to keep their name in the press.

I wish they had never teased us with this. Naturally it has gotten me excited about the possibility of participating in a number of road rallies this summer. The anticipation is going to drive me nuts.

And the for unveiling, they prob have to pick a nice warm sunny day, not hot to need AC and not cold to need heater. No rain, or else that's a few percentage points of range. Not too windy, light traffic conditions. Seems more selective than a SpaceX rocket launch.

If the 3.0 revisions can achieve something over 300 "real world" miles I will be thrilled.

Yep, me too.

I just wish they had chosen a target that didn't require caveats and special circumstances to achieve.

Well, my guess is Elon picked that target without any real input from the people who needed to make it happen. So kudos to them for finding a way to make the boss 'right'.

Regarding if he should have done that, that's another conversation.

Should be some nice spring days coming up that would be ideal for an SF to LA run. I am waiting...

I've volunteered my Roadster for the upgrades and said I'd make the drive ... but so far, no phone call.

Boo.

300 real world highway miles would be a great achievement. Make it affordable and an even better one, agree.

Boo.

LOL. You do know that they have to light the test car on fire to make sure it doesn't explode, right?

I have a Battery Requires Service warning in conjunction with a red FAULT warning on the dash( I have a 1.5 so it is not a 12 volt problem) which according to the SC is a loose rivet on a battery sensor. The repair will cost me a bit over $5000. I have opted to not repair the current battery and to put that money toward the 3.0 upgrade, which I was going to do anyways. Now I just have to hope that I can keep driving the car until the upgrade is available.

A single "loose rivet" is a $5K repair because the battery has to be dropped, opened up, the rivet identified, and then be repaired? Ouch! Sorry to hear about that.

I would find it psychologically stressful to drive the car with the FAULT warning showing continuously.

But what if a new problem occurs that is more serious and would trigger the same warning? You won't know about it because the warning is already being displayed.

Yes, it is especially a lot of money when I already was planning on doing the 3.0 upgrade and $5000 would only be for the privilege of driving the Roadster for the intervening months. I have my Model S to drive too so if it dies completely, the Roadster will just sit until 3.0 is available. I just can not see throwing $5000 down the drain fixing something I am only going to use for a few months.

The SC checked the battery and said the pack is well balanced. Also the warning seems to be coming and going. Some days it is there others it is not. Sometimes when I drive the car the warning will go away in between stops. I am hoping with the warm weather the warning might just go away entirely. Either way I plan on limping to the 3.0 upgrade.

Yes, it is a pain to do this...up here in the cold weather, I get the tire pressure monitor fault 4-5 times / week...
