The Blaujunk thread has some nice instructions on speaker replacement.
I wanted to replace the speakers in the Roadster. The front speakers are easy to access. Just a bent paper clip can pry out the screen and then unscrew the plastic mount.
Here's the speaker that was in the car.
The mount hole.
I choose to replace them with MTX Thunder 40 speakers.
They seem to fit well.
One of the issues is that the plastic mount screwed into the dash doesn't quite have a wide enough opening for the MTX speakers. So my friend Craig uses a Dremmel tool to remove the inner flange.
With that, there then was a small gap between the speaker and the plastic mount so we made a thin cardboard cut out to cover the gap.
(Didn't take a photo.)
Finished speaker
Images look right on my computer, but when uploaded are in the wrong orientation. Grrr.. Wish the upload tool could fix that.
Haven't figured out how to get the rear speaker cover removed. The next task.
