Robotic Charging Connector - Video

Remember at the D unveiling when Elon joked about a robot to plug in the car after is self drives into the garage? Here is a video of something like that being developed by VW.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't a joke - just something he couldn't promise a schedule for.

I expect that in the future some busier Superchargers will be fully automated - the car drops you off, goes to a holding area until a stall is free, charges, unplugs, and goes back to holding until you're ready to leave.

I was wondering about that. Rules about failsafes to be able to disconnect the car in an emergency, maybe? Possibly so the same arm can service two cars in adjacent stalls?
