Rock chip in glass today

Well, I got a rock chip in my glass today driving down the freeway. Already checked and it's 100% covered by insurance. If you've had your windshield replaced were there any issues? For instance, I couldn't tell at-a-glance if the camera assembly is attached to the glass or just to the car.

I drive an early 2020 M3P.

I would say make sure you go with Tesla Approved shop or Service center itself, I have had a issue when they replaced my windshield after 50mph there was a whistling sound.. So I had to replace it again... This was not a approved Tesla shop back in 2018 ... it was just a Auto Glass Company..

Also I just got a rock chip on my windhsield few weeks ago again :(. Its about 7 weeks now still waiting for the new windshield to arrive... For replacement on the M3P

Mine is moving along quickly. After checking with the local windshield glass repair company they redirected me back to Tesla, and tomorrow it'll get replaced if all goes according to plan. I'll end up paying Tesla and being reimbursed from insurance. Total cost of around $1200. I can't speak to why mine's getting done faster than yours, localhost ?!?

When I had my windshield replaced I didn’t take enough time to inspect the new one. Driving home there was an annoying mark right in my direct view which I figured was a smudge… got home and tried to wipe it off, but it was actually a scratch (I assume from the installation process). Frustrating, especially since I waited over four hours at the service center (no loaner available). I contacted the SC (at this point about an hour after I left) and let them know. They did agree to replace it at no additional charge, but I had to wait a few weeks. Luckily this time I got a loaner. The second replacement windshield was fine, no issues at all. So the lesson is, check the glass thoroughly.

The other thing I learned is that even with glass coverage, the glass claim did raise my rate. So while it was only a $50 out of pocket, the insurance doesn’t do much except spread out the cost.

No issues with autopilot or anything else after either replacement.

The Insurance Company is like a Casino: the House always wins.
