Tesla Gigafactory 3 might significantly offset the upcoming temporary shutdown of the Tesla Factory in California. The Tesla Gigafactory 3 in Shanghai reportedly surpassed its previous weekly production record of around 2,000 Made-in-China (MIC) Model 3 in 2019 and is now busy at work to meet the 150,000 per year target. Great news.
If demand remains low in China, perhaps some of those cars will find their way back to USA.
Understand some tweaks many be necessary for US regulations, and the tarif thing will need to be worked out, but there are lots of eager customers in other parts of the world as well.
Tesla is indeed a global company.

Personally, I think this would be a terrible thing for Tesla to consider. On the surface it seems like a good stop-gap for supply lines. If that's all that was at play I'd say sure.

As of right now being able to say that these cars are built 100% in the USA is a HUGE selling point. Shipping Chinese made cars to the US after production will dilute the Tesla brand in the eyes of the general consumer which would be a bad thing since that's something they can hold over the head of most every other competitor as a positive selling point.

The USA will be in trouble for months to come because of its disgraceful lack of a health care system and its moronic president. Therefore production from China could be vital for Tesla to maintain cash flow for months to come.
I think the problem will be whether cars being produced in Shanghai meet standards in overseas countries. It need not be for export to the USA-there is quite lot of demand in Asia which Tesla is currently unable to meet from the US factory≥
