RWD LR Order?

I am interested to do the same but everyone I spoke with (even the “Store Leader”) at my local Tesla store in NJ continues to stress that ANY configuration change would move the whole reservation to current book pricing...for me, this means I would lose the 20” induction wheels at $1,500 AND could NOT get the AWD for the added $4K only...

To quote the store leader: “...once you make a configuration change on an existing order, any price changes including on paint, wheels, interior our full self-driving will be updated to the new price book. This has been the case on every model Tesla offers. They only way to avoid this change is by keeping your original order...”

Did you speak with someone at Corporate and can you share the contact info? Jumping through hoops like this is BS...by now there should be formal, consistent guidance for those of us that plopped down $2,500 months ago...

I believe the person that i spoke to was part of the Las Vegas team. Sorry i don't have his contact information. Your are correct about the BS and lack of guidance. But who know if they do make the LR RWD you might get it before me. I still don't have a vin and the change was made on Friday, so much for priority by order date. I should have purchased stock it was around $250 instead of using the money as a deposit and giving Tesla a interest free loan.

Chat, and I finally had a phone call that said yes. It took about 3 days for the change to appear in my account. I have a feeling it might be a NEW corporate policy because of all of the no's that i had. But the only change you can make is LR RWD and pay the 4K to upgrade to AWD anything else will revert your order to new pricing. i.e Tow Hitch
I've been trying this since they dropped RWD from the website... No luck. I must have chatted or talked to Tesla at least 5 times. Every single one says any change will result in new price book... LR RWD pre-order from August 2019.

I spoke with a Sales rep two weeks ago and I was told it was not cancelled just delayed. They need to contact us if the are cancelling so we can move on. Why is this company so bad at costumer service?
reps don't know anything about LR RWD. I've been told the whole spectrum of options from "will not be produced, it will only be in standard range form next year" to "do not cancel your order because you have guaranteed pricing and LR RWD will be produced before standard range, likely this year". I don't believe anything any rep says about LR RWD anymore...

Disappointing chat with a Tesla rep today. Looks like LR RWD may never be produced.

Hi Sarah. Is there a Model Y available for a test drive at the Sarasota UTC store?

Thank you for reaching out. It does not look like that location offers the Model Y just yet. I do see you have an order placed! Correct?

Yes. We placed it right after the reveal for a LR RWD. Any idea as to what the plan for RWD is?

We expect a Standard RWD option to be available in 2021.

10:46 AM
How about long range?

We do not expect Long Range Rear Wheel Drive to go into production.

10:48 AM
Are you offering any incentives for LR RWD orders to upgrade to AWD? If we change our order to AWD what is the lead time for delivery?

You are able to change your order if desired. We will be in touch directly with any updates to your delivery time line. I would also like to make you aware that any updates to your order would be subject to current pricing.

Wow I was told by phone call to the San Jose Sales place that the LR RWD will be made in early 2021. I am going to test drive a AWD in San Jose on Monday and spend time talking to people.

I received almost same responses at some point in February. Since then, I've been getting different responses, including assurances that it will be produced. Once time I told a rep that the other rep said LR RWD will not be produced, and she told me the other rep was mistaken...

I have a LR RWD Y on order and earlier this year (sorry, don't know exactly when) it moved to "We are drafting up your contract and will contact you when you can make your final payment."

On March 25th I was then assigned a delivery specialist and they call every 2-3 weeks. I'm assuming others are in the the same boat. This isn't my first rodeo with Tesla so I knew what to expect (proactive calling was above my expectations) and am not in a hurry.

In all interactions the delivery specialist was just asking if I have any questions. The only questions I asked where
1) Is there a timeline. Answer: No.
2) Can I add a hitch. Answer: ~"Not at this time, I put in a request but that would be done after delivery."

Next time I might ask "What can you tell me?" ... they never tried to upsell or provide some alternative information.

RWD deliveries scheduled to start September 2020 is the best I could get out of calling multiple Tesla reps. They all said different things but it boils down to this fall after the AWD deliveries tail off.

I believe the LR RWD MY will be built. If they weren't going to build it they would have contacted us to concert us to some other offering. I don't know why they have delayed announcing their production plans for the LR RWD MY. Hopefully it isn't to piss off this book of business and make them run to other products. That's not good business sense. I gave my $2500 reserve for a white FSD LR RWD MY in May2019.
Ditto here. Same order, same timeframe. Best info from several reps hints is deliveries of RWD start September 2020. I called Tesla to make a change in my order to Gemini wheels last week and they did it right then and there; updated the order including price. Asked if I'm still going to get the car, they said of course; just didn't offer exactly when. The official answer that's been around for a log time is RWD will start spring 2021 but it will likely be earlier. I would count on that. Hell I waited over 2 years for my Model 3 so this is a short wait. The good news is we are locked in to $6K FSD and might even end up with the new batteries...just maybe....

I want to have the Gemini wheels and a sales rep on the phone said he put a request But that was two weeks ago. This guy is not answering his emails and I am supposed to test drive an AWD on Monday is SJ.

Which Tesla number did you call, if you don’t mind sharing. I have been trying to get my order fixed for two months. Thx

Finally got my order fixed. Only took 3 months and way too many phone calls. The guy who answered the phone didn't know that the LR RWD was no longer listed on the Tesla Website and, therefore, I could not make the changes needed. I finally have just what I want ordered LR RWD, Red, FSD with Gemini wheels. I got for a Tesla Y AWD test drive on Monday. I do hope the rumor is true that the RWDs will be available come September. It would be great to have mine for my birthday.

I gave up.!! Tesla finally agreed to honor day one pricing a 4K difference in price and change my order from a LR RWD to a AWD and honor the rest of day one pricing on my order. If I add a hitch or anything else the price would revert to current pricing. It will be interesting if i receive a Vin in the next few weeks.

I was also successful in having this done and mine was a day one order. I did it through chat on Wednesday morning and was informed that the upgrade would not be with the current price book and that i would be notified when it was completed. I asked if I would be able to review before the change was made in case something wasn't right and they said no, but they keep logs of all chats and can see all previous chats. I just got the email notification this morning and lo and behold, $4k upgrade to AWD. Original order was White/White/FSD for $54k and now w/AWD is $59k.

I copied/pasted the "Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive is not scheduled for production at this time." from the FAQ as support for why I wanted the upgrade at the original price. Good luck to anyone else who tries this.

Just tried using the Chat (with "Sarah" ) to see if I could get upgrade for the original $4k upgrade. No luck. I'm waffling on what I want to do, cancel my reservation and get back my $2500 so I can at least make some interest on the money or let it ride with Tesla and wait it out.

This Limbo mode is no way to treat customers.

When you placed your order didn't it have an estimated date to start deliveries of Fall of 2020? Maybe things for the RWD version are still on schedule and it was only the AWD variant that got pulled forward. So there may be no update from the original information you were given.

It may be similar to what happened with the Cybertruck. They originally planed to start with the RWD and Dual motor variants, but because of demand they made changes and pulled the tri-motor forward and delayed the RWD. (But in this case they pulled forward other variants and might not have delayed anything.)

I just clicked on the Chat button at the bottom right hand corner of the Tesla page, they routed me to the right person.
