SAE J1772 Charging Adapter Purchase?

It's included in a Tesla car purchase.

You shouldn't have to buy a separate one unless the original one is lost.

Another reason is if you've got a J1772 EVSE at home and want to keep an adapter semi-permanently attached to it while also keeping one on the car. That's my situation. (I bought the J1772 EVSE for my previous car, a Chevy Volt. It's cheaper and less hassle to use that EVSE with my Tesla via an adapter than to replace the EVSE with Tesla's Wall Connector.)

It used to be included with the car, but if you don't have one, it is probably one of the first adapters to get.

The J-1772 chargers are not fast chargers, adding varying amounts, but average around 30 mph charge rate.

The big advantage is that they are all over the place and sometimes available at business and hotels, as they are considered a universal charger.

Check plugshare.com for a location of the J-1772 stations.
