We were in the market to buy a Model Y for about a year now. We attempted to place a deposit on a Model Y LR RWD but it was the day after the cut off last January. Last night at 8:00 pm (while on this website) I got a call from a Tesla agent who found my profile and wanted me to schedule a test drive. I said we were actually planning on placing an order and he wanted to help me out. As we got the point where he wanted my cc number, we got disconnected. I called the number back and some weird guy answered. This caused my alarms to go off. I got on Tesla.com and they confirmed I was taking with a real agent who called me back. Morale of the story, beware whenever anyone asks you for your credit card number of the phone, especially an inbound call. Also, was it unusual for a sales person to call so late?

I would have been suspicious as soon as I received a phone call from anyone claiming to be from Tesla; on the phone yet. Most of the time Tesla communicates via text message or email.
