Sales & Service Center may be coming to High Point

This article popped up on as news alert on my phone this evening. I've always assumed that if a service center came to the Triad that it would be in Greensboro or W/S. If this one comes to be it will be ideal for me, it will cut a 1.5 to 2 hour drive to Charlotte or Raleigh down to 15 to 20 minutes. The location is the strip center with the parking lot that adjoins the Lowes store.

It's been approved by the city and the property has been purchased by the developer so it looks like it's definitely happening.

I just had my signature wheels installed at Discount Tire in High Point this morning so I decided to run by the "new" High Point Service Center to check on the progress. Nothing, zilch, nada. It appears from peering thru the windows there has been no progress.

The Asheville service center did the same thing... permits granted, building purchased by developer and then plans fell through after a year into the process. Now we're back to square one.

Passed by today and it looks like they're working in earnest on it now. Didn't have time to stop today but I'll be going to Lowes this weekend and will take a closer look.

I pulled through the parking lot one day last week and didn't see much change. They're most likely doing more work inside than outside. At some time they're going to have to knock some holes in the buiding for vehicle doord, I imagine the outside will start to take shape at that point.

Stopped by yesterday and it appears that work has picked up. The building is now completely fenced in. The pile of rubble out front has just appeared recently.
