that's probably the route i'd take too. take the $85k & instead of dropping ~$93k for a new car (thus costing you $8k) and go buy a loaner and you should be able to do this at no extra cost to you.

That's totally insane that your car is a total loss, and the member in PA's car isn't: And the day was going so well...
agreed. Tesla needs to take control of this fraudulent-like charging at repair shops or else insurance companies will either stop insuring Tesla's or increase their premiums so high that it makes owning a Tesla impractical. this car is NOT salvage and needs simple repair. That is it. I would report this to Tesla HQ. There needs to be a clear cap on repair costs to stop this abhorrent repair price gouging.
